First dress

It was pretty much decided from the begining that if the shorts turn out OK, I'll make a little dress. Well, the shorts got approved, so it was definitely onto Katie's outfit. Stacey's mom, who is solely responsible for teaching me how to do all this, sat down with me and we picked out an outfit pattern, and the fabric for it. I should also mention that she has all of this just laying around in her house. It took me a few days, since the sawing machine is in the room that Simon sleeps, and I can only use it when neither of the kids needs me, but it got done! I think it's cute, and I am completely amazed that I could actually make something wearable! Also, the cool thing about making it yourself is, after seeing how the dress fits, I decided that it will probably fit for a while, and Katie will need a different pair of shorts for when her bum gets bigger. So now this outfit has two pairs of shorts, one just a size larger than the other. С самого начала мы решили что если шорты удадутся, то обязательно сошью платьице. Так как шорты вы одобрили, я села за Катину одежку. Стэйсина  мама, которая меня учит шить, села со мной и мы выбрали выкройку и материал. Удивительно, но и то и другое лежит большими стопками у нее дома. Шила я несколько дней, так как машинка стоит в Сенькиной комнате, и шить я могу только когда дети во мне не нуждаются, но ура ура! Мне понравилось, и очень удивляет что я вообще что-то своими руками сшить смогла. Увидев как платье сидит на Кате, стало понятно что оно спокойно доживет до размера "кофточка", потому я сделала еще пару шорт, абсолютно таких же, но на размер больше. Так что надеюсь что Катя платье поносит даже если еще скачок роста будет. Снизу многочисленные фотки

Progress

Katie is showing tremendous progress in walking. She just started really walking, as in more than slightly controlled falling, on Saturday, and today she did 25 steps in a row, with absolutely free choice in where to go, which toys to go around, and she could've gone longer and if the size of the living room allowed for it. Yesterday we decided that she will probably be transfered to the walking daycare class soon, so we went ahead and bought her some shoes which are required in that class. And to think that she isn't 10 months old yet!

У Кати просто прорыв в хождении. Она только только начала ходить, в эту субботу были первые реальные шаги, а не слегка контролируемое падение в сторону мамы, а сегодня она уже сделала 25 шагов подряд, с полным контролем и выбором куда идти,  и какие игрушки огибать. Она бы еще прошла, но комната закончилась. Вчера мы решили что ее явно переведут в ходящую группу в яслях, так что купили ей обувку, так как она обязательна в той группе. Афигеть между прочим, ребенку еще 10 месяцев нет.

Die DOMA die

"The federal law banning gay marriage is unconstitutional because it interferes with the right of a state to define the institution and therefore denies married gay couples some federal benefits, a federal judge ruled Thursday in Boston." In theory the government should appeal, but since Obama has promised to be against DOMA, who knows. As far as I understand this ruling makes federal gay marriage legal in Massachusetts, but if they do appeal, and lose, then it would affect a large area (the whole country if it's lost in Supreme Court)

Федеральный судья постановил что федеральный закон о запрете однополых браков (ДОМА) является неконституционным. В принципе государство должно подать в апелляционный суд, но так как Обама обещался быть против ДОМА, может и не подадут. Насколько я понимаю, это решение влияет только на Массачусетс, но если государство проиграет апелляцию, то повлияет на больший округ (если дойдет до верховного суда, то по всей стране)
